COVID-19 and your Pet’s Care


At Greenwood Lake Animal Hospital, the health and well-being of your pet and family are our top priority. As the situation around COVID-19 continues to evolve, we have taken measures to reduce potential exposure to our clients, patients, and team members. We based the procedures on NJ State and NJVMA guidelines and regulations regarding our status as an Essential Business.

 

Medical Emergencies:

Please call the office so we can best direct you.

 

Medical Visits:

We will see medical cases but postpone elective procedures (spay, neuter, routine teeth cleaning, nail trims, shaving mats, etc.) We are able and need to provide veterinary medical care to prevent pain, suffering, and spread of zoonotic illnesses. The State of NJ has not issued an extension to Rabies vaccines and pets must stay current. Please call if you have any question or concern.

 

Scheduled Appointments

Clients are asked not to enter the hospital, to remain in their vehicle and to call the hospital (973) 728-2233 for assistance. You will be called by your dedicated veterinary technician for purpose of the visit and medical history. For your pet’s safety, you will then be asked to escort your pet to the front door. Your pet will be taken into the hospital from the entrance vestibule and brought to the examination room while you are requested to return to your vehicle. The doctor will examine your pet and will call you on your cell phone to discuss findings and plan of treatment (as applicable).

If you are feeling ill, we ask that you please call us before traveling to the hospital, so we can either reschedule your appointment, or in the case of an emergency, provide information on what to do upon arrival at the hospital.

Forms can be submitted via email to: managergwlah@optonline.net, printed at home, or faxed (973-728-9606. Please let your dedicated veterinary technician know if you submitted any forms at the time of intake.

 

Well-care Visits:

We advise you to schedule your pet’s wellness appointment after April 15th. Please call if you have any questions or concerns. The doctors and veterinary technicians will try to assist you by phone.

 

Puppy/Kitten Vaccine Schedules:

Puppy and kitten currently on a vaccine schedule will continue to be followed. Drop off fecal testing for internal parasites should be done on all newly adopted pets. If you are in the process of adopting a pet currently, please speak with our staff.

 

Prescription Medication and Prescription Diet: We kindly ask for you to fill your prescriptions and preventatives at our office to help us support our staff. We are trying to keep our staff employed through this crisis and we need your help. We will continue to offer prescription to be mailed to clients at no charge with the exclusion of controlled substances. ( see below) If you need to pick up your pet’s medication, please call ahead. You will be asked to prepay, and it will be prepared for you for curbside pick-up.
