About the Greenwood Lake Animal Hospital

Our mission is to enhance the health and longevity of companion animals by utilizing the latest medical knowledge and expertise of highly qualified, experienced medical personnel. In Addition, we pledge to provide a clean, efficient, and friendly facility for our clients and patients.

Our Facility

Greenwood Lake Animal Hospital’s facility has been completely renovated and expanded to incorporate the newest technology and enhance patient and client comfort. We take great pride in our clean and friendly office. Our equipment is up-to-date and well maintained.


The Doctors


Dr. Eric Louer, D.V.M.

Eric Louër, D.V.M., Practice Director


Following his graduation from Alfort University of Veterinary Medicine in Paris, Dr. Louër joined a mixed practice in France caring for both farm animals and domestic pets. In 1989, Dr. Louër completed the process of US licensing with postgraduate studies at the Animal Medical Center, NYC and the New Bolton Center at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Louër has been the owner and director of GWLAH since 1994 and heads the surgical team.

Dr. Streng received her D.V.M. degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 1991, and joined the GWLAH Team in the summer of 1996. She enjoys practicing Wellness/Preventative Medicine and Internal medicine. Saying professionally: "Nothing feels more rewarding than being able to help animals stay healthy or get back to being well after an injury or illness." As an avid wildlife enthusiast, she also finds great pleasure in being able to help out the occasional fawn, coyote, or bear cub that has found their way to GWLAH prior to going to rehab and return to the wild. Dr Streng lives in the community with her four-legged kids, all of whom adopted or rescued her; on what she calls a "Walden-eek" pond in their little abode. She shares her life with 3 GREAT big dogs, 3 whimsical cats, a handsome horse named Cowboy and her sweetheart donkey.

Dr. Price graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. Dr. Price joined GWLAH in 2001, bringing with her a wealth of experience in diagnostic medicine and surgery for felines, canines and small mammals. Dr. Price has a special interest in small animal medicine. Dr. Price is an avid horseback rider and shares her horse with Starlight Farms for therapeutic riding.

Melissa Hanley, V.M.D. Dr. Hanley grew up in Kinnelon NJ and knew she wanted to be a veterinarian since the age of five. She earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Villanova University in 2012. She began shadowing and interning in 2010 and continued to intern every summer since at multiple practices including Animal Emergency and Referral Associates (AERA) in Fairfield NJ. She then went on to earn her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 2016 and graduated as a member of the Phi Zeta Honor Society. She is a member of American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association (NJVMA). She is also certified through the Veterinary Business Management Association (VBMA) Business Certificate Program. Dr. Hanley enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but has special interests in soft tissue surgery, preventative medicine, internal medicine, dentistry and radiology. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Hanley enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching sports the NY Giants, hiking with her German Shepard mix Eli and playing Quidditch competitively.

Jackie is responsible for managerial functions that encompass most areas of the hospital. Specifically, she ensures that Greenwood Lake Animal Hospital is well managed and our staff is properly trained. Jackie studied nursing in her native country of Poland and continued her education in medical care at Bergen Technical School. She works closely with Dr. Louer to achieve the hospital's mission and ensure exceptional customer service. Jackie handles all billing and client related financial matters.
